Information Technology will play a major role in driving competitive advantage by providing the tools and technologies necessary to better understand consumer insights, while helping the company imagine/future proof the business through a lens of technology.
The Vice President, IT Strategy and Planning is a key leadership role within the organization, working closely with the CTIO, to strategically partner with the most senior members of Ulta Beauty's organization to drive our Technology strategy, transformation agenda, and shape the future ways of working.
This role will act as the primary leader for IT strategy, IT financials, and IT supplier management.
The Vice President will have oversight of the IT strategy, driving the strategic planning process for the function to identify opportunities for growth and secure competitive advantages.
This role will focus on long- and medium-term strategic initiatives (such as geographic expansion initiatives, innovation, etc.
), while also helping the IT leaders develop near-term plans to implement their business strategies.
There will also be a focus on IT services which includes leading a team responsible for analyzing spend and making recommendations back to the organization on cost improvement initiatives, as well as a team focused on IT supplier spend and vendor management.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute the strategic IT planning process, aligning IT goals with the overall business objectives.
Define the IT vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy to support organizational growth and digital transformation.
IT Governance:
Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective IT planning, decision-making, and resource allocation.
Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, security standards, and industry best practices.
Technology Road mapping:
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify emerging technologies, assess their potential impact on the organization, and create a technology roadmap.
Evaluate the feasibility, risks, and benefits of implementing new IT initiatives and make recommendations to senior management.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
Oversee the IT budgeting process, including forecasting, allocating resources, and monitoring expenses.
Optimize resource allocation and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective IT solutions and services.
IT Portfolio Management:
Evaluate the organization's IT portfolio, including applications, systems, infrastructure, and projects.
Prioritize investments, rationalize systems, and optimize the portfolio to enhance efficiency, alignment, and return on investment.
Collaboration and Communication:
Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, business leaders, and IT teams.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication to align IT planning with business needs and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Proactively offer recommendations to enhance internal and external systems and processes - drawing senior management attention to key issues, new initiatives, and ideas.
Lead strategic initiatives that are specific to improving the overall IT organization and business processes in partnership with the senior IT leadership team.
Identify strategic gaps and challenges (tech, process and people related) and drive initiatives to address themPartner with and support the Streaming Tech leadership team in establishing a shared vision across the team by building consensus on prioritiesDeep dive into high priority technology issues and drive partner concerns as neededPartner with HR & Finance to help drive key planning activities, including annual headcount, budgeting, long-range planning, and infrastructure capacity planningHelp structure strategic frameworks for driving and enabling technology innovationCollaborate with product teams to ensure alignment on innovation initiativesPartner with our transformation office to adopt agile processes for portfolio management are applied to our innovation agendaLead the IT Supplier Management function to ensure maximum value is received from the investments that Ulta Beauty makes with our suppliersProvide leadership to staff and take responsibility for aspects of business continuity planning and legal complianceLead IT finances by analyzing, forecasting and reporting on financial results for the department.
Lead the annual budgeting process including developing and communicating timelines, tools, templates, consolidating submissions and facilitating reviewsDisseminates information and communicates ideas on behalf of IT :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Finance; Graduate degree in Business, Management, Finance or Computer Science preferred.
