THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:
The Director, Strategic Portfolio Delivery, IT role is responsible for driving coordinated execution of the most critical enterprise IT initiatives, to deliver on Ulta Beautys strategic and financial objectives, working in partnership with the broader Strategic Portfolio Delivery (SPD) team, senior leadership and key cross-functional stakeholders.
This role leads and coaches a high performing team of Portfolio, Program and Project Managers to partner with IT and business leaders, working within the Enterprise Transformation Office, to drive a consistent process for the prioritizing of demand, funding of initiatives, ensuring resource capacity and availability and managing interdependencies between the programs and portfolios that support the enterprise strategy and goals.
This individual is also responsible for developing, with the SPD leadership team, the enterprise program management operating model.
In addition, the Director Strategic Portfolio Delivery, IT must demonstrate a critical blend of both strong strategic management and cross-functional leadership capabilities and a strong track record of successful execution of complex enterprise IT initiatives in a retail environment.
The ability to influence, advise and manage a large number of cross-functional players across levels is critical.
Further the individual must be results-oriented with a bias for action.
The leader should be comfortable with ambiguity, leading the team in structure problems and charting a clear path forward.
YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
IT Program Management Join and expand the Strategic Portfolio Delivery Office, including refining the vision to include IT, building the team, and creating the combined operating model and ongoing enterprise approach.
In conjunction with the CIO and Enterprise Transformation Office, define the vision, goals and operating model for Strategic Portfolio Delivery, IT.
Sit on Enterprise Strategy & Transformation leadership team and work in partnership with the VP, Enterprise Transformation to develop and execute an integrated roadmap of enterprise IT initiatives to achieve strategic and annual plans.
Manage and support periodic updates with senior leadership team.
Sets organizational strategy governing the direction and conduct of IT program management, including the evolution and application of repeatable, adaptable and scalable methods.
Oversees , authorizes and champions activities to manage the entire lifecycle of complex programs from project initiation to project close, ensuring the delivery of quality solutions that meet the constraints of time, cost and scope.
Defines and agrees to technical and business program objectives with business area leaders, and oversees the selection, planning and management of all related project activities.
Architect development of project management center of excellence at Ulta Beauty, including contributing and demonstrating best practice approaches, project governance frameworks and processes and toolkits which will be applied throughout the organization.
Build the organizations knowledge and ability to work in Agile methodologies as needed across the existing portfolio and expanding over time.
Support and facilitate ongoing prioritization across Ulta Beautys portfolio initiatives, working with Enterprise Strategy & Transformation senior leadership, providing transparency to ensure that the right projects are moving forward and are held accountable to deliver business value.
Identify and manage critical interdependencies, determine, monitor, elevate and help to mitigate areas of risk.
IT Governance and Resourcing Leads IT resource assessment and capacity management, within the Enterprise Transformation Office.
Supports definition, and manages the IT intake and demand management function, with Enterprise Transformation Office, and assists the business in navigating the process through effective project definition, refinement and initiation.
Oversees, with Enterprise Transformation Office, the consolidated IT portfolio estimates, schedules and resource requirements, and is ultimately accountable for all IT projects.
Responsible for the understanding and oversight of project level IT financial management with IT Finance and Enterprise Transformation Office.
Liaises with Internal Audit and Finance Leadership to ensure financial and compliance requirements are upheld across all IT projects and programs.
Designs project metrics, dashboards and reporting mechanisms to facilitate decision-making at all levels of the organization from C-suite to line management, consistent with Strategic Portfolio Delivery methodologies.
Guides continuous improvement efforts from opportunities identified by lessons learned and other feedback.
Leadership & Relationship Management Establishes solid relationship with leadership across all business areas and helps them to articulate the technology needs that will advance business performance.
Coaches team members to further strengthen these cross functional relationships and to share ownership and accountability for the business results of technology related projects.
Manages individuals and teams by defining clear roles and effectively assigning responsibilities in order to achieve corporate objectives.
Provides coaching and support and ensures team is knowledgeable about the enterprise strategy, functional strategies, functional partners and program/project objectives.
Establishes clear performance objectives with Strategic Portfolio Delivery team, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria.
THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or equivalent professional experience; MBA preferred Project management and Agile certifications preferred (e.
g.
, PMP, SaFE, CSM, CSPO, etc.
) 10
years of IT leadership experience with portfolios in blended agile and traditional PPM environments 8
years experience leading teams Resource management experience required.
Must be able to create a roadmap and execute transformational change.
Strong knowledge of system and software SDLC, PMO and leading practices and methodologies.
Demonstrated experience leading teams to execute highly complex initiatives of significant scope, scale and risk in a retail environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis and apply frameworks to drive alignment and decision-making.
Exceptional communication skills, including ability to share ideas and information across diverse audiences to drive to business decisions.
Ability to synthesize clearly and simplify the complex.
