Administrative Aide - Police Department (Full-time, Union - MAP 522) DEFINITION:
Under the direct supervision of police administration, performs work as an administrative aide to one or more principal employees in support of police functions in the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, preservation of public peace, maintenance of social order, enforcement of laws, and investigation of crime; doing related work as required.
SHIFT:
This position involves regular shift work, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.
Hours may be extended due to unexpected circumstances or emergencies.
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday between 8:
30 am and 5:
00 pm (40 hours a week) but may include evenings and weekends.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Screening of visitors, telephone calls, mail, and other inquiries Prepares/initiates correspondence as needed/directed Preparation of department payroll Maintain attendance records, schedule appointments and maintain calendars Maintain budgetary files and assists in preparing the department's annual budget Process employee personnel forms for various qualifying actions Oversee the department's Notary Public program Assist with the department's petty cash program Process invoices for outside details requesting police services Prepare the monthly department newsletter Review reports and inter-office correspondence prepared by others to assure accuracy and other related duties as assigned ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
High School graduate or equivalent Knowledge and experience in standard office equipment and computer software programs Four (4) year experience as an administrative aide in office procedures Knowledge of the Village of Bolingbrook Residency in a community (or unincorporated areas) within the State of Illinois which falls within a thirty (30) miles radius of the intersection of Briarcliff Road and North Bolingbrook Drive (Route 53) within six (6) months of the date the probationary period ends.
Ability to communicate professionally and politely with the public, supervisors, and fellow co-workers at all times Ability to handle stressful, unusual, or unpleasant situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and impartially.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties Ability to pass a comprehensive background check Ability to climb stairs, walk, stand, lift moderate weight, or sit for extended periods SALARY:
