Under the direct supervision of the Patrol Division, performs a wide variety of public services to the community to include parking enforcement, directing and controlling traffic, and other support services to sworn officers or Village personnel.
SHIFT:
This position involves regular and irregular shift work assigned as-needed to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Shifts are primarily evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays, not to exceed 32 hours a week.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Performs work assisting Patrol, Traffic, Investigations, Administration, Crime Prevention, Records, Training, and Animal Control.
Field duties may include:
Parking enforcement Ordinance violation control Traffic control Vacation and Business checks Bicycle Registration Prisoner Matron/Pat Downs Patrol assigned area via automobile, on foot, or bicycle.
Observe for criminal activity, safety hazards, traffic violations, and persons needing assistance.
Make presentations to groups and individuals on subjects related to the job's tasks and functions.
Assist the general public with requests for service, which do not require a sworn officer.
Assist Animal Control as needed with animal complaints, stray animals, sick or injured wild animals, and other complaints.
Clerical duties may include:
Filing Data Entry Type, file, or obtain police report and records as needed.
Responding to residents' inquiries in person or via telephone.
Transportation of persons, equipment, and documents.
Appear and testify in court, at deposition sessions and at similar proceedings.
Other related activities as assigned.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAJNJNG, AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Minimum 17 years of age Ability to pass a post offer pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
Knowledge and experience in standard office equipment and computer software programs.
Knowledge of the Village of Bolingbrook.
Reside with in thirteen (13) miles of the center of the Village of Bolingbrook, or within a municipal ity, any portion of which is located within thirteen mi l es of the center of the Village of Bolingbrook, within six (6) months of the date the probationary period ends.
Ability to communicate professionally and politely with the public, supervisors, and fellow co-workers at all times, both orally and in writing.
Ability to hand le stressful, unusual, or unpleasant situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and impartially.
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
Ability to climb stairs, walk, stand, lift moderate weight, or sit for extended periods.
Inspect equipment or materials to identify problems or defects.
Follows orders to complete assigned tasks.
